The book was designed and produced under the direction of Andrew Hoyem with the assistance of Gerald Reddan, Eric Holub, Peggy Gotthold, Leif Erlandsson, Stephanie Dal Porto, and Stephen Vincent. The type composition and casting in Monotype were done by Peter Stoelzl and Lewis Mitchell at Mackenzie & Harris. The types are Stymie Bold for text and Franklin Gothic for display. The type and photopolymer plates for the images were printed by letterpress on Zerkall, a German mouldmade paper. The prints by Mel Kendrick are photographic reductions of proofs of woodblocks that are elements in three woodblock prints published by Arion Press in conjunction with this book.
